THIRD-ANNUAL BREAKFAST Phoenix Country Club Honoring Michael Cohen, MD Rhian Evans Allvin & Virginia Piper Charitable Trust
Proceeds from Books Eggstravaganza! will benefit Reach Out and Read Arizona,a program dedicated to promoting literacy as a standard part of pediatric care. The Books Eggstravaganza event honors those individuals and organizations who support and promote early childhood literacy through Reach Out and Read Arizona, a program of the AZ Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics. The breakfast now in its third year, celebrates the more than 800 AZ physicians involved in this program who are inspiring parents every day to read to their children. In 2010, pediatric providers discussed the importance of reading with the parents of over 120,000 children during well child checks for our 6 month to 5 year olds. In addition to giving special thanks to the pediatricians, community leaders, organizations and businesses are honored with special recognition for their commitment to childhood literacy. Past honorees include Eddie and Nadine Basha, Dr. Susan B. Johnson, Dr. J. Kipp Charlton, Reading is Fundamental, Macy's Partnership, Target and Tucson Festival of Books. Reach Out and Read Arizona is a program of the Arizona Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics. It is designated as a 501(c)(3) tax exempt organization, and an affiliate of the Reach Out and Read National Center headquartered in Boston.
